Crafts Avenue Sewer Work Update
Pre-construction activity for the new sewer line and street improvements on Crafts Avenue made significant progress this past week.
Northwoods Excavating completed the haul road entry off Route 10 to the River Park site and installed warning signs along North Main Street to alert motorist. This will reduce truck traffic on Crafts Avenue.
Note that the photo shows large rock on the haul road at the entrance. This is good practice to reduce mud and dirt from truck tires as they enter public streets.
Northwoods also located their job site trailer, storage unit, and port-a-potty on the River Park site at the north end of Crafts Avenue. John Machia, the job site superintendent, can be found here Monday - Saturday once the actual construction starts.
The Resident Parking area was completed, as requested by our neighbors, and topsoil was stockpiled for future use.
Sewer pipe, stone, gravel and sand is being stored on the River Park site to minimize the impact on Crafts Avenue.
Northwoods has begun a detailed survey of existing conditions and marked the location of the existing sewer and water lines in the street. Their excavation equipment has the capacity to use this GPS data to minimize disruptions to area residents.
Lyme, Leet Ware Construction, and Northwoods representatives met with Interim City Manager Paula Maville and department heads to coordinate the work. An excavation permit was submitted to the City as requested. This application includes a schedule, traffic plans, and performance bond. The City is in the process of hiring an inspection team to monitor the work, which will be paid for by XYZ Dairy.
Several property owners have requested inspections by Northwoods to allow them to prepare fixed price quotes to replace antiquated sewer lines at homeowner's expense, which will be cost effective to complete in conjunction with the installation of the new 18" sewer line. This is totally voluntary and each property owner can decide if they want to pay for this work.
Northwoods plans to go door to door next week to meet and greet residents on Crafts Avenue. As always, if you have any questions please contact me at (603) 676-7800 x1 or email angela@lymeproperties.com
We are looking forward to receiving the go ahead from the City Engineer and DPW soon.
